The following operators can narrow or expand your search. 

AND greatly narrows your search by only including information pertaining to both concepts. 

peanut butter AND jelly= information about both peanut butter and jelly

NOT slightly narrows your search by only including information pertaining to one concept and not the other. 

peanut butter NOT jelly= information about peanut butter but not jelly

OR broadens your search by including information pertaining to either concept.
